Asst. Prof. Frederick R. Masangkay, RMT, MSMT, PhD, is a Research Center Fellow in the Environmental Health Research Center, University of Nicosia, Cyprus, and a Fellow Member of the Malaysian Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences. He was awarded his Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Science through the Outstanding International Student Scholarship of Walailak University, Thailand, in 2020. He has since produced more than 60 publications in ISI and Scopus-Indexed High-Impact Factor Journals, international book chapters, and local laboratory manuals. He pioneered the works on the natural contamination of Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia spp. in environmental aquatic biofilms, the in-situ model of growing aquatic biofilms with orientation and depth, and the first world report of the microscopic and molecular detection of Cryptosporidium hominis in a freshwater sponge. To date, his study on Cryptosporidium spp. in freshwater resources remains the most expansive at a national level. He is a reviewer for notable journals like Water Research (Impact Factor: 13.400), Water MDPI ((Impact Factor: 3.530), BMC Medicine (Impact Factor: 11.129), Applied and Environmental Microbiology (Impact Factor: 5.005), Journal of Water and Health (Impact Factor: 2.264), Journal of Blood Medicine (Cite Score: 2.960; SJR: 0.74), and Environmental Health Insights (Cite Score: 2.5). He is a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines and has also served as its En banc Technical Evaluator for water security research proposals.Ìý
