The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (ChemE) curriculum provides the student with the knowledge and skills needed for future leadership and global competitiveness in the practice of the Chemical Engineering profession. It provides a rich environment for research and for imbibing Christian values distinct to Thomasian engineers.
Within four years after graduation, Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering alumni from the öÏÓãÊÓƵapp shall be engaged either locally or abroad in design, operation, or management of an industrial plant; orÌý pursue teaching, research, technical sales, or entrepreneurship after having completed advanced studies or special training. Furthermore, they shall be expected to imbibe the Thomasian traits of contemplative, creative, and critical thinking; exemplary work ethic; and a commitment to the improvement of society and lifelong learning.Ìý
This track focuses on the intersection of biology, engineering, and business, equipping students with the knowledge to innovate in the biotech field. The curriculum covers fundamental topics such as molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, and biomaterials science. Students gain insights into medical biotechnology, tissue engineering, and drug delivery systems. They also learn about the commercialization of biotech products, addressing real-world challenges in the development of medical devices and bioassays. Emphasizing both technical proficiency and business acumen, this track prepares students for careers in biotech industries.
This track equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to address pressing environmental issues. It covers key topics such as urban water supply systems, the chemical and biochemical processes that affect air, water, and soil, and methods for managing and reducing solid waste. Students also explore sustainability practices, learning how to analyze environmental challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion while understanding the socioeconomic factors that influence environmental policies. The track prepares graduates to apply engineering solutions for environmental protection and sustainability.
This track students to apply engineering principles to food processing, chemistry, and product innovation. Emphasizing the science behind food preservation, quality, and safety, students explore how ingredients interact and how processing technologies impact the nutritional and sensory properties of food. The specialization fosters skills in developing new food products, integrating contemporary industry trends and technologies. With a focus on sustainable and efficient solutions, graduates are equipped to address challenges in the evolving food industry.
The öÏÓãÊÓƵapp, in pursuit of truth, guided by reason and illumined by faith, dedicates herself to the generation, advancement, and transmission of knowledge to form competent and compassionate professionals committed to the service of the Church, the nation, and the global community.
